DESCRIPTION:On June 22nd\, the first day of summer and the day with the most light\, we recognize the Longest Day—a day dedicated to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research and support. This day symbolizes hope and strength. As the sun shines its longest\, we “shine a light” on the darkness of Alzheimer’s disease— honoring those living with dementia\, supporting caregivers\, and remembering loved ones affected by this journey. Across our campuses\, and as part of our Everyday Amazing program\, we will be recognizing the Longest Day in a variety of engaging ways as we stand in solidarity with those impacted by Alzheimer’s. Together\, we affirm our commitment to compassion\, education\, and advocacy in the fight against this disease.

Concluding with the transformative amendments that abolished slavery and secured women’s suffrage\, this timely and engaging series offers meaningful insight into the Constitution’s enduring influence as we mark this historic milestone. \nDescription for Today’s Lecture: Amendments of the 19th and 20th Centuries \nThe American Civil War represented the most catastrophic event in US History. In part five of our presentation\, we will review the war\, as well as the three Constitutional amendments that followed the Civil War which sought to guarantee the rights of all citizens\, regardless of race. We will also explore the origins of Prohibition\, and the American Suffragette movement\, which led to amendments in the early 20th Century.
