DESCRIPTION:Join the Gutekunst Flute Choir on Sunday\, November 27th at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Anne Chapel for a gentle start to your Advent season. Bathed in soft candlelight\, we will listen to words and carols inviting us to enter into the yearning that is Advent\, to awaken and prepare ourselves for the coming of Jesus by filling our hearts with the sounds of His hope\, peace\, joy and love. \nAbout the Presenter\nIn 2002\, Karen Gutekunst founded a flute choir in Milwaukee\, Wisconsin. Adding flutists over time to reach their present size of 12 members\, this local group performs at public and private venues throughout southeastern Wisconsin. Originally the “Ladies of Flute”\, the group adopted its current name after Ms. Gutekunst sadly passed away in 2010. Members feel her name\, which means “Good Art” in German\, is a fitting tribute to the talented musician and friend who brought them together. The group loves to make beautiful music in her memory.

D. with specializations in Modern Jewish\, Modern Europe and Modern Middle East history from Arizona State University. A noted public speaker\, Crain delivers over one hundred lectures nationally each year. \nDecember 8: The United States and the Persian Gulf \nAs the United States continued hoping for stability in the troubled region of the Middle East\, the situation was about to go from bad to worse\, as Iraq invaded Kuwait. The American Government saw the invasion of Kuwait as a direct threat to US interests in the region. The US assembled a large coalition of forces from various nations and launched into Operation Desert Storm that forced the Iraqis from Kuwait. With the expansion of terrorist organizations throughout the region including Al-Qaeda\, the US soon saw itself fighting a very different war. The events of September 11\, fundamentally changed US policy in the region.

A noted public speaker\, Crain delivers over one hundred lectures nationally each year. \nDecember 1: The United States and the Arab-Israeli Conflict \nAs the 1960’s progressed\, the US Government closely monitored the problems between the Arabs and Israelis\, while also staying out of the conflict. However\, all of that changed in 1967\, following the Six Day War. As Israel emerged victorious the June War\, the Johnson Administration viewed Israel as an essential bulwark to Soviet expansionism in the Middle East. Just six years later\, following the Yom Kippur War\, US foreign policy changed yet again\, as the Americans established a close alliance with Egypt. The United States hoped for peace in the Middle East throughout the remainder of the 1970’s\, but the Iranian Revolution and subsequent hostage crisis served to further complicate those efforts.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a tour of the fabulous Grohmann Museum. The Grohmann Museum collection currently comprises more than 1\,700 paintings\, sculptures\, and works on paper from 1580 to the present. They reflect a variety of artistic styles and subjects that document the evolution of organized work from manpower and horsepower to water\, steam\, and electrical power. It was gifted to MSOE in 2001 by Milwaukee businessman and collector Dr. Eckhart Grohmann. \nThe Grohmann Museum is named in honor of Dr. Eckhart Grohmann\, an MSOE Regent\, Milwaukee businessman\, and avid art collector\, who donated this collection to MSOE in 2001 and subsequently the funds to purchase\, renovate\, and operate the museum that bears his name. Dr. Grohmann and his wife\, Ischi\, are longtime supporters of scholarships for MSOE students and donated funds to purchase the property for the Kern Center\, MSOE’s health and wellness facility that opened in 2004.  Bus departs MCH at 1:00 PM. \nAdmission is $3.

DESCRIPTION:Nixon defeated Hubert Humphrey in the 1968 election and became the new President of the United States. However\, he did not have a secret plan to end the war in Vietnam. In fact\, he escalated the war by launching a secret bombing campaign of Cambodia. When the American public found out regarding the bombing of Cambodia\, campuses across the nation erupted in antiwar protests. Nixon realized he had no choice but to begin the withdrawal of American forces from Southeast Asia. The cynicism of the 1960s would grow in the early 1970s with the fall of Vietnam and the domestic scandal of Watergate.

SUMMARY:MCH Fall Harvest Festival
DESCRIPTION:The highlight and inspiration for the festival is the fresh and bountiful harvest from Clare Gardens\, Milwaukee Catholic Home’s organic farm\, located in Neosho\, WI. Farm Manager Anna Metscher will be here with a wonderful array of fresh organic produce for sale at her pop-up Farm Stand.  Enjoy hot cider\, s’mores and popcorn as you browse the festival. There will be freshly harvested honey and maple syrup from the farm as well as MCH signature spiced pecans and specialty breads and bakery! \nAnd there’s more!!! The traditional book sale (all books $1.00)\, fabulous raffles\, specialty vendors with crafts and unique gifts\, and our world famous MCH Chili Lunch with cornbread and all the fixings\, including a vegetarian option. \nPlease contact us with any questions at 414-220-3217. DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce “Chair Yoga with Anne”! The instructor\, Anne Gimbel\, graduated with a BSN\, and MSE\, from UW-Milwaukee. She was a nurse practitioner at Family Hospital\, where she also worked on the GYN surgical floor.  After receiving her MSE\, she conducted wellness workshops\, and taught Therapeutic Touch and Yoga. She has taught Yoga and meditation in the Milwaukee area for 35 years and is pleased to be offering Chair Yoga\, yogic breathing and meditation her at Milwaukee Catholic Home.  Namaste!

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a tour of MKE Urban Stables. MKE Urban Stables provides equine-assisted services and programs to youth and veterans. \n\n\n\n\nWith the construction complete in May 2020\, they became the first facility in the nation to combine equine-assisted therapy\, community engagement programs\, and mounted police patrol with a total of 24 horse stalls\, indoor and outdoor riding arenas\, classrooms\, and multi-purpose community room. \n\n\nMKE Urban Stables partners with Rawhide Youth Services and the Zablocki VA Medical Center to provide Equine Assisted Therapy. Participants work with certified instructors\, equine specialists and mental health professionals to develop life skills through interactions with the horses. \nMKE Urban Stables is the new permanent headquarters for the MKE Mounted Patrol. \nThe bus leaves MCH at 9:30 AM.

DESCRIPTION:In 1962\, Richard Nixon’s political career appeared over. He had lost to John Kennedy in 1960\, and in 1962 he lost to Pat Brown in the governor’s race in California. However\, with the ongoing problems for the United States in Vietnam\, especially following the Tet Offensive\, Nixon saw an opportunity to run for the White House in 1968. He ran on domestic policy of law and order\, spoke of the silent majority\, and talked of his secret plan to end the war in Vietnam.
