MCH-Dr. Tim Crain Presents: The Politics of Fear: Joseph McCarthy and the Red Scare of 1950-54

September 9 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Session two: America during the Interwar Period

Even though the First Red Scare passed, the fear of communism remained. The FBI was established and headed by J. Edgar Hoover. The FBI closely monitored left wing activity across the nation, while ignoring right-wing extremism. McCarthy remained on his parents dairy farm outside of Appleton, and graduated from Little Wolf High School in Manawa, before continuing to college at Marquette University. He graduated from law school in 1935, and was elected the youngest circuit judge in Wisconsin in 1938.
