Catholic Ecology Center: The Art of Drawing Birds

Do you enjoy watching birds? Ever wondered if you could learn how to draw and paint them? This is your lucky chance!! Participants will learn how to see and draw from real life bird mounts. This gives the individual a better understanding of each bird’s makeup and gets to see all the details up close. Not to mention they stand still so we can draw and paint them! In these sessions, participants will learn how to correctly see and render proportions of an individual bird, capture the line of movement and learn how to identify several feather groupings. We will start by drafting rough drafts to capture the overall movement of the bird. Then we will transfer our image to fine quality paper where we will apply watercolor painting techniques. At the end of the session individuals will have gained an appreciation for seeing and have a work of art to be proud of. All skill levels are encouraged. Two sessions remain: June 3 & June 17.
