Celebrating Women’s Leadership: A Legacy Across Our Campuses

This March, Trinity Senior Services is celebrating Women’s History Month across all our campuses. Throughout the month, we’ll be diving into the rich histories of Milwaukee Catholic Home and Trinity Woods, highlighting the women—religious sisters, leaders, caregivers, and community members—whose vision, compassion, and dedication helped build and sustain these communities. Their stories remind us that women’s leadership and service have long been at the heart of our mission, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire us today.

Milwaukee Catholic Home

On Milwaukee’s Upper East Side, Milwaukee Catholic Home has been flourishing since 1913, all thanks to the foresight of four remarkable women. What began as a home for just 12 residents has grown into two connected campuses offering a full continuum of care—including independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, and rehabilitation services.

Incorporated by visionary members of the Marquette Women’s League, Milwaukee Catholic Home was first known as Milwaukee Catholic Home for the Aged, located on North Astor Street. Its founder, Anna Marie Hackett, and philanthropist Anna Cudahy, wife of meat-packing mogul Patrick Cudahy, set in motion a vision that would steadily grow to shape senior living in Milwaukee for generations.

These inspiring women are a lasting reminder that determination and a deep desire to help others can leave a meaningful mark on a city and its people.

Trinity Woods

Opening its doors in 2022 through a three-way partnership, Trinity Woods is located on the grounds of Mount Mary University. Founded in 1913 by the School Sisters of Notre Dame, Mount Mary University is Wisconsin’s first four year degree granting Catholic institution for women.

Today, Trinity Woods continues that legacy of empowering women. About 75% of residents are School Sisters living in independent or assisted living. The community also includes housing for single mothers attending Mount Mary and their children, along with an onsite daycare serving both resident families and the greater Milwaukee area.

Intergenerational programming is woven into daily life, creating meaningful connections between our seniors, sisters, students, and children—an inspiring reflection of women supporting women across generations.
