Inspire Your Heart with Art

Throughout the month of January, our A Life Engaged teams collaborated to bring this month’s theme, Inspire Your Heart with Art, to life across all our campuses. Through creative workshops, interactive exhibits, and engaging activities, we encouraged residents and staff to explore the joy and expression that art brings. Each campus found unique ways to celebrate the transformative power of art, not only fostering creativity but also strengthening connections within our communities, making January a truly inspiring month for all.

Milwaukee Catholic Home

Independent Living residents embraced the theme Inspire Your Heart with Art by watching a thoughtful video on the importance of creativity, followed by a heartwarming session where residents shared artwork that moves them – from personal creations to cherished masterpieces.

Talented Health Care Center residents were busy preparing for next month’s Valentine’s Day festivities. They’ve been hard at work creating beautiful homemade Valentine’s cards, spreading love and creativity one card at a time. They’re excited to share even more love this Valentine’s season by donating some of these cards to the Cupid Crew for Care Patrol Milwaukee, who will be delivering cards to seniors experiencing loneliness in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, or at home. Art truly has the power to connect and uplift us all!

Trinity Woods

Trinity Woods featured a special showcase from one of our own – Gene Mihleisen, a retired graphic designer whose breathtaking watercolor artwork has graced large galleries in the past. Now, his talent is on display at Trinity Woods for his neighbors and our residents to enjoy. His vibrant pieces capture the beauty of life and remind us all of the power of creativity to inspire and connect. We’re so grateful to Gene Mihleisen for sharing his incredible gift with us!

Another way that Trinity Woods’ residents lived out January’s theme to Inspire Your Heart with Art is with one of their monthly programs, Contemplative Art. This program is sponsored by COSEW (Contemplative Outreach of Southeast Wisconsin) and led by Trinity Woods’ resident Sister Patty Rass, SSND. January’s theme, “The Cosmos and Me,” had the participants immersing themselves in the mystery and awe of creation. With brushes and mixed media, they brought the cosmos to life on canvas. The shared energy of the group was expanded, unified and inspired.

Our Lady of the Angels

The sisters at Our Lady of the Angels Community recently embarked on a three-week Inspire Your Heart with Art series, crafting beautiful notebooks using upcycled materials. This creative endeavor was more than just an artistic outlet—it was a reflection of their commitment to the principles of Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ call to care for our common home. By repurposing materials that might otherwise go to waste, the sisters embodied the spirit of sustainability and stewardship, turning discarded items into meaningful, functional works of art. Their project not only honored creation but also served as a reminder that even the simplest actions—like upcycling—can be an act of faith and environmental responsibility.
