Welcome the New Members to the Trinity Woods Life Engagement Team

We’re thrilled to welcome two dynamic new members to the Life Engagement team at Trinity Woods, Laura Barker and Anna Wozniak. Each brings a unique background and passion for working with our senior community, and they are already making a wonderful impact! \

Laura Barker – Director of Life Engagement

Laura’s journey began at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she completed the Interpreter Training Program for Sign Language Interpreting. Her career started as a classroom interpreter for Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS), followed by a position as the school secretary at the Wisconsin School for the Deaf. Even though Laura is no longer working directly with the Deaf community, she continues to use her American Sign Language (ASL) skills in her everyday life, underscoring her commitment to communication and connection.

Initially hired as the Life Engagement Coordinator, Laura quickly transitioned to the Director role, taking the reins from Carly. In this capacity, she is committed to continuing the high-quality programming that Trinity Woods is known for, while also exploring innovative ways to enhance the activities and outings available to our residents.

Laura’s professional journey is filled with interesting experiences that many find amusing and enlightening. Prior to her work in senior services, she lived in Reno, where she worked as a Blackjack and Roulette Dealer in a casino. She also spent time working for an airline, managing aircraft de-icing and directing jets—a role that certainly added some excitement to her resume! Most recently, Laura served as the manager of the Life Enrichment program at St. Camillus, where she honed her skills in creating engaging activities for seniors.

Beyond her impressive professional qualifications, Laura is a proud mother of two adult daughters and a grandmother to a delightful 6-year-old girl, who will occasionally be seen around Trinity Woods as Laura’s little assistant. This personal connection to family and community is a driving force in her commitment to enhancing the lives of our residents.

Laura was inspired to join Trinity Woods because of her passion for working with seniors. She believes that fostering meaningful connections and providing enriching experiences are vital for enhancing the quality of life in our community. Laura is eager to bring her unique perspective and experiences to our residents, helping them create memorable moments and connections. Please join us in welcoming Laura to the Trinity family! We are excited to see how her vision and leadership will enrich our community and enhance the lives of those we serve.

Anna Wozniak – Life Engagement Coordinator

Anna joins us as a recent graduate of Boston University and an alumna of DSHA High School. Her path to Trinity Woods has been influenced by meaningful experiences in geriatric care. During college, Anna worked as a caregiver in an assisted living facility and a group home for disabled adults, cultivating her empathy and skills in senior care. She also brings experience from roles at Baskin Robbins and Saint Bernard Parish, where she learned the value of community and service.

Anna’s role as Life Engagement Coordinator allows her to work closely with Laura, planning and running activities and events for our independent-living seniors. In her first month, she has embraced a wide range of roles for our residents—server, bartender, exercise equipment trainer, mail carrier, editor, decorator, and party planner, among others! Her daily tasks involve everything from organizing activities to working on themed event planning with Laura, ensuring each day at Trinity Woods is filled with joy and engagement.

Anna’s dedication to senior care began early, as she volunteered at an assisted living residence in middle and high school. Her love for building relationships with seniors and brightening their days made her realize that a career in geriatric care was her calling. In her spare time, Anna is also a liturgical musician, playing the organ, piano, and handbells. Her musical talents have already brightened the atmosphere at Trinity Woods, most recently during an impromptu concert at Ladies’ Tea.

Laura and Anna are exceptional additions to our Life Engagement team, each bringing enthusiasm, skill, and dedication to their roles. We are excited to see how their unique talents and fresh perspectives enhance the experiences of our Trinity Woods community!
